34-Year-Old Dies From Injuries Month After Long Island Crash

A man critically injured in a fiery crash on Long Island has died from his injuries, authorities announced Monday morning, Nov. 11.

The crash happened on Saturday, Oct. 12, around 6:55 p.m. in Bellmore.

Richard Sorrentino, age 34, of Queens, was pronounced dead by hospital staff on Friday, Nov. 8, Nassau County Police said.

The crash happened on Saturday, Oct. 12, around 6:55 p.m. in Bellmore.

Sorrentino was riding a black motorcycle westbound on Sunrise Highway near Rose Place when he struck a bicyclist attempting to cross the roadway.

The impact caused the motorcycle to catch fire, and Sorrentino was airlifted to a nearby hospital with severe trauma and burns.

The bicyclist was also taken to the hospital with trauma injuries and remains in stable condition. 

The Homicide Squad’s investigation into the incident is ongoing.
